Right now I'm at a crossroads at what I want to do regarding my health. I'm better than I have been in the past because I've been hitting protein shakes and controlling my unshakable love for coke, pizza, ice cream et al. and I'm 7lb lighter than I was about a month ago, just over a quarter of the way where I want to be.
The main prob I'm having is that from this time next week I have an hour less a night to get gym work done, because I'm working an extra hour a day from then on which means I'll bet getting to the gym later and later. It's a problem mainly down to hitting the crowded streets of Bris right in the middle of rush hour, where the only pain and ache to be suffered is to watch the Evening Shift through a bus window.
Given the £33 I pay per month and a woeful average of 7 visits in that time I'm mostly afraid that if I do the *sensible* thing and pack it in that weight will suddenly reappear mainly as I'm terrible at roadwork (even worse than benching!) and there isn't a gym of the calibre of the one I'm using that's easy enough to get in and out of.
Diet is the other real problem; where I've been OK with stuff during the day (as said, the shakes are helping and spreading a 500cal deck of sandwiches over 3 servings keeps hunger apart) the evenings are my main concern as I'm more prone to snack while slavishly browsing cack on t'net than any other time. Gaming helps as I need to keep concentration but that will be affected too. The other problem is TV, as I'll effectively only have two-three hours a night if I keep up with the gym work properly. The only current stuff I really watch is WWE, Top Gear, Mock The Week and any football that happens to be on.
Something, readers, is going to have to give. And if it isn't the gym or my belly it'll be the wrestling.
FWIW the only genuine "wow" moments I've had over the last few months both happened inside the last week - Kofi Kingston beating the crap out of Orton on Raw in MSG, and Shawn Michaels nailing the Chin Music on HHH immediately after the opening bell at the Survivors (sorry for the spoil, hah). Up until last night's Raw things have been same old, same old and whereas Smackdown has been the far superior show JeriShow is starting the split and Undertaker's final reign with a belt seems to have no suitable successor; What happened to the Casket Match he was supposed to have with Punk during the Sheffield shows? it didn't happen on TV, that's for sure. ECW I haven't been keeping up with, apologies, but a total of nine/ten hours of TV a week for me is too much at the best of times. Especially as I've just bitten on Modern Warfare 2.
On the longer-term non-gym front, I still have a ton of stuff down my Dad's place I need to get back here, the main problem in that is that I have to transfer most of my live WWE tapings onto DVD and somehow dump the tapes just to make room for it all. Problem with *that* being I'm a hoarder and there's nobody I can really sell old commercial releases to, and to bin most of it is just criminal. Most of the live tapes I've got run from 1997 until about 2002 and the proper ones from a lot further back. Y'know, from good to great with terrible-but-unpredictable in between.
Things haven't been the same since March 2001, and I just don't have enough love anymore to keep good records as much as I used to. Yet I don't sit with a glass of wine watching the old stuff with a tear in my eye because - yarp - there's not enough time.
Essentially the next few months will be: Get stuff back from Dad, catch up on the manga I'm a year behind in following, keep fit as best as possible, keep my job and save enough money for my Sister's wedding in July, next year's season ticket, NFL gamepass and - if I'm incredibly fortuitous - a new computer. Anybody got a couple of grand you won't miss? Vince? You owe me for killing the business.
Tschuss.
